When Is It A Good Time To Start Potty Training?
Six is almost 15 months old, and I think it’s time to start thinking about when we should begin to potty train him. When my daughter was this old, she was potty trained with the help of my best friend, and my son was a little older than Six is now. Potty training can go either one of two ways, easy and fast or long and hard. My daughter was a piece of cake, she was trained in a couple of days, and my son took much longer. Now with Six, I’m not sure how this process will work. As a baby, he never really cried when his diaper was wet or when he made a stinky, until two weeks ago, his dad taught him to say stinky when he pooped. Now when he makes a stinky, he says, “stinky stinky,” and that’s means change my diaper now. When he pees, he still is ok with the diaper being on him. We tell him to get his diaper and wipes, and he does, or he will get them himself. At this point, my feeling is if you can tell me you made a stinky, you can start to use the potty.
I have been talking to his dad about when to start, but either of us is ready for that part. We both are tired of spending the money on diapers. One has to begin the process, and then the other will follow. I know this sounds a little different, but it’s how we work together as a team. It has been a long time for both of us so that we will be doing this kind of blind all over again. Sometimes I think what we have gotten ourselves into by starting all over again, but then I look at Six doing something funny or just his smile, and it just makes my heart melt. I know this will be an adventure for us all, but we will get through the potty-training phase and save all that money on diapers. If you have any tips, please let me know. Thank you in advance!! I will keep you all updated. Until Next Time!!
